Alie B. Gorrie

Eternal Optimist

Alie B. is a literal ball of energy, and we are grateful she is on our team! Multi-talented in every way, she holds a Master in Arts in Medicine from the University of Florida as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from Belmont University. She is also a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor as well.

Prior to her time at Crescent Grace, she served as the Community Engagement Manager at Red Mountain Theater, teaching theater, improv, and dance residency classes to underserved populations across the state of Alabama. She taught in various settings including nursing homes, Childrens Hospital and community centers. She continues to teach a variety of programs both virtually and in person for organizations across the US.

As a young teen she created and developed the non-profit, Songs for Sight, an organization serving kids and teens in Alabama living with low vision. As someone living with low vision herself, Alie B. remains passionate in regards to identifying the needs of those living with disability and striving to help them be the best version of their incredible souls.

She brings inspiration, hilarity and sparkle alongside the hard truths and difficult challenges necessary for recovery.  She brings a unique perspective not only as someone who herself recovered from an eating disorder, but also dares to bridge the road to recovery and mental wellness with the gift of creativity as a reminder of our shared humanity.

When asked what she feels she brings to Crescent Grace to help others in their recovery, she replied with:

PLAY! I believe in the power of play no matter how old you are. I bring a playful, curious spirit that I hope will invite others to connect with the best parts of themselves.

ADAPTABILITY! As a theater artist and improvisor, I know how to adapt on the fly. The recovery process is by no means linear, and it truly takes flexibility and understanding from all parties traveling the healing journey.

TENACITY and GRITTY GRACE! Recovery takes a certain level of tenacity, and steadfastness rooted in a belief that there is and must always be grace in the process of healing.

DOING THE WORK! I know that I can’t show up fully for others if I am not accountable to the doing of my own work in all areas of my life both personally and professionally.

Alie B.’s idea of the perfect Saturday is waking up to her sassy Westie puppy, Phoebe, her furbaby whom she absolutely adores. After coffee she would wander to the Pepper Place Market followed by a morning hike and then maybe an afternoon of tap dancing (her happy place). The day would end with game night at her house with friends and laughter. Lots and lots of laughter.

Crescent Grace is staffed with compassionate professionals who will guide your journey to full recovery every step of the way.

Never Give up
No matter what

You are not alone
There is hope

We can always hold more than one thing to be true and experience the beauty in that.
