Emily came to us during her practicum and internship at Jackson State University while working on her Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s degree. During her time at Crescent Grace she found it to be a place where she felt comfortable exploring creative ways to support clients with their journey. She brings a great love of the creative process and identifies strongly with the artist within and shares openly her love for art and music.
During her graduate school training, she was also grateful to have had a broad range of experiences including working with families and individuals in rural settings, as well as an opportunity learning how to advocate for women navigating the healthcare system.
Emily has a great deal of passion for those having suffered trauma and grief and desires to honor the story of each client. Her truest desire is in providing a safe space for each client to grow and change into the best version of themselves, free of the past and hopeful for the future.
Random facts about Emily that make us smile include her self-admission as a “total band nerd” and her ongoing love for the clarinet for the last 13 years. She was a drum major in high school, and you can catch some of her artwork hanging on the walls of UAB’s campus and Callahan Eye Foundation. An avid furry animal lover, she remains neutral and shares affection for both cats and dogs and swears she will never choose one over the other.
Her favorite way to spend a Saturday is hanging out with friends having a chai on the porch, shopping at local markets and sharing a rousing game of Bananagrams with her little brother and mom. She can also be found occasionally diving into her music, learning a new song or making some cool art.
I truly believe that reconnecting with the fun, curious, ‘cringy’ and expressive parts of ourselves is what benefits us on the journey towards self-acceptance and healing.
Crescent Grace is staffed with compassionate professionals who will guide your journey to full recovery every step of the way.
